It’s hardly new for you guys to bring up the unexpected overlap of Christianity & horror fandom (that being what your podcast is all about), but it wasn’t until this time that I thought to recommend Zach Clark’s film “Little Sister”. It’s not actually a horror movie, but it’s about a former goth turned nun-in-training who goes back to visit the pothead parents she’s estranged from during the runup to Halloween and implicitly about how those two different aspects can be part of the same person. As I said, it’s not a horror movie, so perhaps it should be covered by Tyler on the original podcast rather than you guys, but he’s said he’s been too busy recently to do much of that in addition to his stuff at Battleship Pretension.

If people can’t agree on what the problem is, that’s arguably a good sign. More severe problems tend to be more obvious. If we were all being attacked by birds (or zombies), there wouldn’t be much argument about what the biggest problem was.

You announce your frustration with “bumper sticker” responses here, but discussion here sometimes strikes me as being at a similar level. To be fair to you guys, I tend to read a lot of social scientists who take a more rigorous & empirical approach to some of the same issues, and listen to MTOL in part because a religious perspective is different from what I’m usually exposed to (even a religious adherent like Gabriel Rossman keeps his Catholicism & sociology fairly separate for his different audiences).
