Before the undead actually rise up in Romero’s “Diary of the Dead” a student filmmaker explains that it wouldn’t make any sense for a mummy to run because rigor mortis means its ankles would snap. And in his prior film “Land of the Dead” it’s emphasized that dying of any cause (including suicide rather than being bitten) results in returning, unlike the infection model that became popular after 28 Days Later.

Snyder neglected to use it, but the piece of music I’d use if I ever made a podcast on the film is Schoolyard Heroes’ Dawn of the Dead (using Goblin’s theme for the Argento edit of the original), released the year prior to Snyder’s remake. I suppose the screaming verse sections from the bass player greatly limits the appeal of the Heroes’ earlier stuff though.
